An introductory-level hoop dance class.

In this class you will learn beginner level hoop moves through a combination of dance, exercise and play. This class is a chance for you to get fit while tapping into your own style and creativity through movement.
This class is more than just a dance class. It will not only provide you with a workout to revitalize your body, but also to revitalize your mind! In addition to strengthening your core and toning your body, you will be exercising your creativity, increasing your energy and boosting your self-confidence simply by playing like a kid again. Some of the moves and topics we will cover include learning how to waist hoop, how to move with the hoop and how to hoop both off and on your body. Each class will include some unstructured hooping time for you to work on what you’ve been learning and to dance freely with your hoop.
Hoops will be available to rent for $3 if you don't have one. Our beautiful handmade hoops will be made available for purchase in class and we also take custom orders. Please bring water, a towel and a smile! If you would like to bring music to share feel free to do that as well and we will try to incorporate that into our lesson.
Dress in comfortable and breathable clothes that you don't mind sweating in are ideal. Shorts and sleeveless top are great, because the hoop sticks best to skin. We typically wear dance/yoga pants with a tank top or sports bra. Looser clothes and slick materials like spandex make the hoop slippery.
